Bad Boy Kitchen: Skrewball Peanut Butter Whiskey + Pumpkin Old Fashioned

Skrewball Peanut Butter Whiskey Pumpkin Old Fashioned

When I told my friend I wanted to make her a peanut butter and pumpkin old fashioned, she was horrified. But, to be honest, that’s exactly what I expected. The Bad Boy Kitchen series is all about things that don’t really make sense in a sentence, but make total sense to the senses. This cocktail looks damn good in a low ball, and smells and tastes like a perfectly rich recipe for the holidays.

Skrewball Peanut Butter Whiskey has been a surprising addition to my bar cart. Sipping a glass of it proves a fine contender to other after dinner drinks. Meanwhile, I’ve been having way too much fun trying to come up with cocktails using the unusual liquor.

A combination of pureed pumpkin, peanut butter flavored whiskey, bourbon and bitters, this drink will be a hit at holiday parties, from Halloween through Christmas. When I tested it out on a group of friends, everyone’s eyes lit up with unexpected gratification — even that one friend who sent me a GIF that resembled someone throwing up.

“But it doesn’t taste like pumpkin and peanut butter combined,” was the unanimous response. “Why is it so good?” People like peanut butter. And they like pumpkin. But should they really go together? Obviously, the answer is yes.

The best Bad Boy Kitchen recipes will always surprise you. So go ahead, be a little bad and make something that’s simply good.

Cheers!

Ingredients

Directions

  1. Combine the bourbon, Skrewball Peanut Butter Whiskey, orange-flavored liqueur, pumpkin puree, and bitters in a cocktail shaker filled with ice.

  2. Shake vigorously. Do a little dance. Wink at your friend who is nervous to taste said drink.

  3. Double strain through a fine mesh strainer into an old fashioned glass filled with a square or sphere ice cube (because aesthetics, and because no one wants a watered down drinky-poo).

  4. Garnish with a rosemary sprig and orange peel.
