Bad Boy Kitchen: Tequila Espresso Martini

Tequila Espresso Martini

Another “Bad Boy Kitchen” recipe is here!

I used to think tequila was made solely for making margaritas (which I’m really, really good at making by the way). But one day, someone asked me if I’d ever tried a Bloody Maria, and everything changed.

Bloody Marias are nearly the same thing as Bloody Marys, except that the Maria version opts for tequila as the liquor of choice, while Marys use vodka. When I found out you could just make that switch and the drink tasted just as good, if not better, I wondered what other classic drinks would benefit from the swap.

It’s not that I despise vodka, it’s that I love tequila. I like to taste the liquor in my cocktails, not hide it. With vodka, I don’t necessarily enjoy the taste coming through. Tequila is a different story.

When SALT Tequila sent me a bottle of their chocolate tequila, a lightbulb went off. What if I took the classic espresso martini and switched things up by using tequila? I started Googling like crazy to see what came up. I was actually surprised to find zero espresso martini recipes using SALT’s chocolate flavor, or even any other tequila with a chocolate flavor. So I got to work.

I also opted to make my own Kahlua-ish mix using vegan ingredients. You’re welcome!
